Wake Forest University: Schools of Business iPod Touch Welcome Kit
Each year the Wake Forest University Schools of Business welcome potential MBA students into their programs with an admissions kit. In the the past, these printed kits were fairly expensive pieces to produce. And because they contained info about the programs, the university, and the city of Winston-Salem, they needed to be updated every year; increasing the cost of each component annually.
This year, HBA was tasked with coming up with a solution to not only lower the cost, but to also make the kits more attractive to prospective students. The least expensive way to update the information each year was to go completely digital, and allow the students access to all information in one central location.
Working with Wake Forest to develop a digital hub in the form of a “Welcome” landing page, we established a place where students could find the many answers they sought. And to help them stay connected, as well as entice them to choose Wake Forest for their MBA education, we gave each accepted student an iPod touch.

Hot Shot: Packaging Exploratory
When Hot Shot contacted HBA, their line of bug sprays looked like they belonged on the air freshener aisle. The goal was to make it look like something that would be seriously considered to rid your home of an infestation. But a balance had to be struck, because consumers main concern with bug sprays is that it also be safe for their families. Several packaging options were presented, along with new logo treatments. In the end, Hot Shot decided to go another direction. But I liked the ones I worked on so much, I figured I’d put the exploratory up here.

Wake Forest University : Schools of Business Alumni Magazine
A few years ago, the Wake Forest Schools of Business asked HBA to take a look at redesigning their alumni magazine. Previous issues were done by in-house staff, and while they weren’t bad, they definitely had a “university publications” feel about them. The Schools of Business wanted us to not only elevate the look and feel of the magazine, but also concept on the particular topics each issue would cover and coordinate with writers and staff for content.

Champion: Collection Posters
These posters were done to promote a vintage-inspired, fashion sportswear line from Champion. HBA even convinced them to let us use the original Champion “C” logo from 1919, which ended up being used fairly prominently on the clothes. I remember driving the stylist crazy at the photoshoot, trying to get her to add wrinkles and ripples into the clothing to give me and Will more reference for drawing them later.

LOADED Skateboards: Nunya Deck
This is the latest deck design I did for the guys at LOADED. They had seen the “Yuk Fu” tee I had done for the LFTC board and wanted something done in a similar style, but with either Jesus or a nun on the bike. And the thought of a nun on a devil bike was too much fun to pass up.

Red Kap: Logo
The original Red Kap logo was created in 1927, and hadn’t changed much since then. The red jockey cap was basically lifted from the label of a brand of tobacco the company’s founders used. So when Red Kap decided to try and take their brand of workwear to mass retail, they contacted HBA to help with a new branding program, which included updating the logo to something less illustrative.
